The 2027 course

Swim: two 1.1 km loops in the lake at Saint-Nazaire-en-Royans, with the aqueduct as a backdrop and along the red rocks. Bike: the road climbs straight out of transition, 5 km up to Rochechinard, then reaches Saint-Jean-en-Royans at the foot of the Col de la Machine (12 km at 6.2%). After the pass, the plateau road towards Saint-Laurent-en-Royans is very rolling, followed by a very fast descent and a calmer stretch to Pont-en-Royans. The L leaves the XL route at the entrance to Choranche, climbs towards the Presles cliffs and comes back down the Route du Faucon, steep and winding. Run: four loops that start in the village lanes, cross the aqueduct (250 m long, 35 m above the water), run flat across the Saint-Just-de-Claix plain on road and track, then cross the aqueduct again.

What the race asks of your training

The Col de la Machine

The bike climbs straight out of transition, 5 km up to Rochechinard, then tackles the Col de la Machine from Saint-Jean-en-Royans: 12 km at 6.2% on average. Long climbs at a steady pace, without going into the red at the bottom, prepare you better than speed on the flat: remember to fit this climbing into the long rides of the plan.

Surges and technical descents

After the pass, the plateau road towards Saint-Laurent-en-Royans is very rolling, with many surges, before a very fast descent; further on, the Route du Faucon drops steeply through tight bends. Practising surges after a climb and working on your lines downhill saves time without costing energy.

A nearly flat half after the mountains

The run has only 160 m of climbing over four loops, through the village lanes then flat across the Saint-Just-de-Claix plain. Bricks of hilly riding followed by a steady run teach you to find your legs after 1,800 m of climbing.

A longer swim than a half

2.2 km instead of 1.9 km, in two loops. Extending your continuous swim sessions accordingly, and swimming in open water a few times before the race, keeps you from leaving the water already drained.

Why this plan works

Science-based periodisation

Base → build → specific → taper, with a recovery week every 3 to 4 weeks. Load goes up, but never two hard weeks in a row without a breather.

Paces, not vague feelings

Every session has target zones (pace, HR) computed from your MAS or a reference performance. A MAS test is built into the plan if you don't know yours.

Three disciplines, one load

Swim, bike and run are planned together: brick sessions, key sessions spread out, and a coherent total load week after week.

A plan that listens

After each session you rate how it felt (RPE). Too hard? The plan eases what follows. Skipped a session? It reschedules or absorbs it.

Frequently asked questions

When is Vercorsman 2027?
From Friday 20 to Sunday 22 August 2027. The L and XL start on Saturday 21 August at 8:30 am, the M on Sunday 22 at 8:15 am and the S on Friday 20 at 6:30 pm.
How do you register for Vercorsman?
Online, from the official site: as of 9 October 2026, the opening is announced as imminent. You need a 2027 FFTri competition licence or a Licence Expérience. Places are limited and online entries close on 18 August 2027 at noon.
Does Vercorsman offer a half-Ironman distance?
Not at the classic distances (1.9 / 90 / 21.1 km). The L is the closest: a 2.2 km swim, 80 km bike with 1,800 m of climbing and a 21 km run. The XL stretches the bike to 119 km and 3,000 m of climbing.
Vercorsman: how many weeks of preparation?
For an athlete at intermediate level, Endu builds a 21-week preparation. If your race is closer, the plan compresses phases while keeping the taper; if it's further away, it lengthens the preparation, and when the gap is large the preparation starts right away, gently and at your current volume, before building up.
Is this plan well built?
Pass at Endu’s plan check, the same as for any plan: 22 of 22 checks passed. A 21-week build (recommended minimum: 12); a longest run never more than 6% above the previous month’s; volume rising at most 13% from one week to the next; 82% of the time at easy effort; the longest session 3 weeks before the race; a taper cutting volume by 72% in race week. The rules and their sources are public on endu.fr/en/controle-technique.
How many sessions per week?
This example has 6 sessions per week. You choose 5 to 7 training days and the exact days (e.g. Tue, Thu, Sat, Sun): the plan sticks to them.
I'm a beginner, is this plan for me?
The plan adapts to your declared level (beginner to semi-pro): starting volume, progression and intensity change. Endu also offers a "Discovery" mode without a race to build a base first.
Can I follow sessions on my watch?
Yes, on Garmin and COROS. On Garmin, the Endu app (Connect IQ Store) shows today’s session and starts it as a guided workout. On COROS, link your account from your profile: your running, trail and cycling sessions land in the watch calendar. Other brands are not supported yet.
How much does it cost?
14-day free trial, then €7.99/month with no commitment or €59.88/year (€4.99/month). Unlimited objectives and sports.

Checked on 9 October 2026 on the organiser's websites. Details can change: the official website prevails.
